Jewelry design in Thailand has different facets, that is something that we can appreciate when, with the curiosity that every designer possesses, we look at the jewelry panorama beyond our borders. Approaching jewelry design in Thailand is the result of that always constant search for references. We almost always look at the most cutting-edge countries in this matter, about which we know almost everything. But how is jewelry design developed in countries about which we know little about the sector? From the West, Asian countries are perhaps the ones we are most unaware of, or we almost always link them to the delocalized production of many of the pieces that are designed in the West or, on the contrary, another thing that comes to mind is purely ethnic craftsmanship. . But Thailand is one of those countries that is not only dedicated to production, it is a country where jewelry is approached from many areas, such as design, art, training and companies that bet on large international fairs.

To try to convey the diversity that the jewelry sector experiences in this country, I have been able to interview various Thai designers, each of them specialized in very different facets. Its appearance can be a bit rough, as long as that was the intention from its conception, everything must be done intentionally. Why did you decide to open a contemporary jewelry gallery in Bangkok? Contemporary jewelry needs special care and dedication at the time of sale to convey the concept to the end customer, and this posed a problem when I tried to sell my pieces in different spaces in the city, where the sellers themselves did not have enough knowledge to get the message across. So opening my own gallery could solve that problem, and I thought that if I had fallen in love with contemporary jewelry, through my gallery other people could also do the same. How would you define jewelry design in Thailand and its new talents? I would say that most of the new talent here is still raw, sometimes the ideas are good but the execution of them is not so good.
