We are all going to start going to the gym, dieting and reading more and watching less television in 2014, but we must not forget the resolutions to be a little greener and more sustainable in daily life. As individuals and as part of a company, it is important to start this year with information about the environmental problems of our planet and what we can do to help solve them. Here we suggest 7 green resolutions for this coming year:
1. Buy less bottled water:
Water bottles use a lot of resources (like oil), plus they generate a lot of waste: in the United States, between 26 and 41% of discarded PET bottles came from water, not to mention they are expensive. This 2014, companies and individuals can make it a goal to invest in a filter and reusable bottles.
2. Drive less and use sustainable transportation:
This purpose is environmentally responsible but also has to do Europe Cell Phone Number List with health. By driving less, alternative transportation such as the bicycle or subway is used and people walk more. For those who live in the Federal District this is becoming easier, thanks to the city's smart features .
Encouraging these types of attitudes is increasingly important for large companies, as can be seen in Apple's new headquarters , which is designed to promote sustainable transportation among its employees.

3. Always use reusable bags:
For several years now, Walmart has positioned the "green bag" in Mexico, but it is not just a matter of having a large collection of reusable bags, but of remembering to take them to the supermarket when it is time to shop. This attitude can dramatically reduce an individual's carbon footprint .
4. Save water:
Water scarcity is one of the most important environmental problems globally. Taking shorter showers (and avoiding tub baths altogether), avoiding unnecessary flushing, and turning off the faucet when brushing your teeth are obvious savings goals. At a business level, 2014 is a good year to install smart systems that reuse rainwater and improve efficiency in all facilities.
5. Eat less meat:
Why not establish a company-wide “ meatless day ”? In this way, collaborators will create bonds by finding new ways to eat without including meat. Doing so significantly reduces your personal carbon footprint, as the process to produce meat products uses a large amount of resources.
6. Use energy efficiently:
This includes changing incandescent light bulbs for energy-saving ones, but also avoiding leaving connected devices that are not being used and considering renewable energies such as solar.
7. Reduce paper consumption:
Switching to digital subscriptions, recycling used paper, avoiding unnecessary printing and other responsible actions save water, oil and energy. In 2013, Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma managed to reduce its use of paper by 50% by adopting a paperless culture . Which Mexican companies will follow suit in .
